Mt. Pico is the highest point in Portugal and one of the highest peaks in the Atlantic Ocean. To climb the 2.351m high mountains is one of the most exciting adventures available in the Atlantic Ocean.
After a 3-4h hike you reach the Crater. From there you have a stunning view to the 5 Islands of the Central group of the Azores.
To reach the peak we will walk around the crater which has 500m diameter and climb the Pico Pequeno which is 70m high. This is the real summit of Mt. Pico.
Here we see some volcanic activity a degasification characterized by the emission of water vapour at a temperature of between 50 °C to 75 °C. A nice warm up on chilly days.
The tour is guided by a certified Mt. Guide and starts at 07:00 in the Port of Madalena. The transfer to the base takes 25 minutes and there you meet the guide.

Our Testimonials
I was in Pico in April 2017 and did an Island tour. The driver Duarte was a nice local guide that knew everybody on the Island. He did many stops that were not aritten in the program and we had some nice wine tasting. Its really a nice trip and you visit places that you would not find on your own.
One of the highlights of our Pico stay was the tour in the highlands. We saw soooo many cows, flowers, and landscapes. We saw at least 5 rainbows. A highlight was a little cave hidden in a cowfield and the walk at the little crater. A wonderfull day and a professional driverguide that told us so many things of the Island.
