Diving
Land dives:
The coastline of Pico is not steep and there are various little ports and nature pols around the Island. The majestic mountain covers this places according to the wind direction. That’s why most of the time we find access to this spots from land. This dives are wonderful dives with lots of marine life of the coastal zone. Beside the smaller fish there are the inhabitants of the cracks, holes and caves that the lava has formed. Murray eals, nudy branches and crustaceans are found. Also this areas are the reproduction ground for various species like Parrot fish, Trigger fish and many more. This young fish attract the hunters so we also see Barracuda, Bonitos and Jacks. But also the big megafauna members come to visit this shallow places and we often met Mobula Rays looking for cleaning stations.
Boat dives:
We have many boat dive locations around Pico Island, in the channel to Faial, around Faial Island and also around Sao Jorge Island. The level and the quality of this dive sites are all very different. We visit many level one spots for the less experienced divers near to Pico and in the marine parks of Faial and we have lots of advanced spots that are often very deep. Also strong current can appear from nothing and thats why we do not take anybody to any of our advanced spots without a normal 2 tank dive day in the easy spots before. That’s mandatory and that’s professional to secure your safety.
Some of this spots are near by but others are far away and require some navigation. That’s why the prices are different as we have to put he fuel costs into consideration.
